github enterprise: where is customer data stored and processed?
GitHub Enterprise Cloud stores code and repository data in the EU data residency region, which according to the source can include Azure regions in Norway and Switzerland from 1 May 2026, as well as existing EU regions in France, Sweden, Germany and the Netherlands. The same source says EU customer data may also be processed in these regions, but none of these locations are confirmed as the customer's own choice. Customers can choose region, but the provider also has regions outside the EU/EEA that can be deselected. Copilot inference is said to stay within the EU region, which follows the EU Data Boundary, with the country not stated. Location is not stated for backup, identity, support, notifications or telemetry such as logs and debugging.
