Amazon Web Services: where is customer data stored and processed?
Amazon Web Services stores and processes customer content in the region the customer selects, and the data processing addendum says so explicitly (section 12.1 and 1.3.4). Among the options shown are Frankfurt, Dublin, Milan, Paris and Stockholm, which are all in the EEA, while Madrid is listed as unconfirmed. Support is provided from Amazon Web Services EMEA SARL and is used only when the customer shares customer data. Messages for notifications and email go through third parties in the United Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates, and the USA is unconfirmed. Several AI improvement features may run outside the EEA, including in the USA, Canada and Singapore, and customers can opt out. The data processing addendum is read but does not state where data is stored.
